Siblings are by invitation only. When I get a sibling, it's usually, 9 times out of ten, from my affiliates. I'm usually affiliated with them for 6 months to a year before I even decide to make the change. Sites don't last very long but if they're active for about that time and I talk to them a lot, it's pretty much good enough for this special area. My siblings will have skills on par or above mine and I frequently will visit their sites, compete in contests with them and go to them for design advice.
Samantha runs Hime Designs and boy is she masterful. Mostly a wallpaper designer, she can really lay it down when it comes to big designs. She's lovely sweetheart and tweets her butt off on twitter. I've been a a friend for two layouts of hers and her advertising skills kick major butt. Sam's always pimping herself.
Alis is a sweet friend of kurenaicons from italy. She always has a kind word for everyone and has supported my many layout changes of the past. She's always smiling online, well, at least through emoticons and has her hands dipped into many designing endeavors.
Mishi's, by far, one of my most talked to friends online. We live relatively close to each other and we feel the same about many things, not just when it comes to design. Mishi draws well and does a great many things simplistically, without room for error. We both have OCD eyes, which makes us blood sisters.
Kazuko came here requesting things for graphics at first and generally asking questions. Little did we know that she had her own forum and that she does some stunning work herself. Her forums' does IOTW and SOTW contests and as far as I've seen, it's pretty popular. She's also a genius at recruiting.
Jenna, I think, is psychic. She changes her layouts often and I think it's for the same reason I change mine often. Boredom? But whenever she does, it's usually fantastic. I say to myself, uh... Something red would be good and BAM! Jenna does something that I wanted to see. Her graphics style is very unique.
Heather keeps a tightly organized ship. She uses patterns quite a bit recently and Ha! I love it! Her designs grab you in a choke hold and just when you think you'll die from the cuteness of it all, she lets you take a breath. I also like Heather's statuses on facebook. Never fails to make me laugh.
about affiliates
Affiliates can becomes so by invitation or by application. I'm not as strict with contact as I am with my siblings. I still contact them and try to comment when they make updates. I usually like to be friends on facebook and twitter to stalk their statuses. I like to enter their contests or contests they enter for friendly competition. I'm looser with my affiliates looks as well. I require it be an anime/manga-ish layout and for graphics at the very least offer icons for the visitors I'm referring to them to find some things in common. I don't care about smut, nudity or mature content. If it looks good and they're nice, it flies.
Maya is someone mysterious to me. She has solid designs and graphical abilty just after you click the link and see the layout. She's usually content when I see her on facebook updates, but she's definitely a survivor. Someone I really respect that definitely deserves it. On a lighter note, new design has cleavage.
I sometimes wonder, why the heck Alessandra decided to affiliate with me. Not to down myself really but her design skills, even just her layouts alone are just further advanced then mine. She really lays down the texture layers. Her newest design, think ill of Harry Potter if you may, but she makes him look good.
Ren makes laugh. I don't think there's the word "shy" in her vocabulary. Her site just turned one not to long ago and she's had 2 layouts that I've seen so far. She ain't no newbie, folks. She's got much of us wrapped up in a box waiting for her updates. Recently added her so I look forward to seeing more.
Adrenia really knows how to flaunt the jquery. I told myself that as I was doing some research about adding a slideshow to my frontpage. I was link hopping and found Kami-Designs. She's big into neopets which obviously I don't mind. I can safely say I'm far too old for it for Neopets, but whatever drives the artist to work, I say.
Ella is a young girl, still in high school, who still likes princess stories. Somehow, I think she'd get along more personally with some of our younger members. The ones that are like Disney, YAY! But Ella's designs reflect much of this. Her avatars are almost too full for 100x100 but beautiful pieces of art.
Winnie just started again in the general community of anime and manga graphics again but I have a feeling, just by her icons, that she's going to be a great success. Her layout is calming and although she might be a bit sparse right now, her design skills are solid and not overdone.
Michelle first applied as a link exchange, but I never got that email. I wonder if she's happy about that? I did get the second email about affiliation and she was quickly added. It's rare to see people focus more on resources than their actual designs. Michelle's designs are incredible and her resources are flawless.
