Kurenai Shi Beginner's Guide

From Kurenai Shi Wiki

As a service to beginners that stumble or get redirected to the site from the vast universe, I've decided to incorporate the mass of knowledge I have as the administrator into this handy dandy article. We've been playing this game for three years believe it or not. So there's a cavalcade of things we've changed since the last time I wrote one of these things three years ago.

Basically, Kurenai Shi (Crimson City) is split up into four districts. If you compare it, you could think of a metropolitan city like New York City. There's Manhattan, The Bronx, Brooklyn and many other less famous areas. But just a large city split up into sections.

So speaking of Kurenai Shi, the City Center area is just an eclectic mixture of government workers and university students. You can go the university, hospital, police station or even church if you like.

Higashi-Cho (East District) which is for the well-off socialites. If you live there, you're rich. You go to the finest school. Your upbringing is usually very superb. You drive a fancy car and you attend gatherings with other wealthy people that are usually friends of yours.

Kita-Cho (North District) is next, it's the military/governmental district. It's mostly played with for the all-boys school. But people like to visit the graveyard and the gym and fitness center as well. If you come from this district you're from the upper-class, but your parents have given you a set goal as a young man. To be a soldier or work for the government.

Nishi-Cho (West District) is where Kurenai Shi's really popular kids like to prowl. There's bars, movies, arcades, models, advertising, and much more. The public school is also located in this district where all the middle class to poor kids attend. It's usually where all the fun is.

Last is Minami-Cho (South District). If you're middle class to poor, you can also live here. But let's just say it's the shadier section of city. Cops rarely go there and if they do, they stay in their vehicles. It's because the local yakuza controls things down there.

As you play a character, you're not limited to stay in any one section. Not at all. You can visit any district but home is home. So pick your district wisely. You'll be going to the school associated with it and usually making friends there.

Now as for a plotline, we don't really have one. Characters have their plotlines as they progress and we just go with the flow. We sometimes have events that affect the characters but I suppose that those are few and far between. Like natural disasters, like the hurricane of day six. But usually, they're large get-togethers like balls, weddings, funerals, or large group threads that are 8 or more characters.

Now for characters, you can have as many as you like, as long as they balance out and you can play them all. Like if you make one girl character, then your next character should be a guy. But if you can't play well as the opposite sex of yourself, that's fine as well. As long as you talk to a mod or admin about it, we can make some allowances. Because more often than not, someone wants to play a character with the sex you're not able to.

So moving on, we go on a day system here. Day 1, 2, 3 and so on until the rpg dies. Treat the day system as a date like in a calendar. Like today, June 6th 2009 as if you were roleplaying everything that happened to you in that day. The days for the rpg last roughly for about 2 weeks to a month in real life time. And we do one day at a time so players don't confused with their own storylines. Like if a character met someone on Day 20, they wouldn't know how that meeting went if the thread wasn't finished. But yet they see them again on Day 21 and wouldn't know how to play it out.

We have weather that tells what the day is like and also time within the days. Like Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Night and so on, that will help tell your story even better.
