Physically

Ankle-lengthed teal-coloured hair that's pulled up into two giant twintails using black and red ribbons is Rori Midou's signature hairstyle.

She stands at around 5'3". She is usually seen in a black, sleeveless collared-shirt (the sleeves are stylishly separated from the shirt itself) with the accompaniment of a teal tie, a skirt of the same two colours, as well as black thigh high boots. She always has a giant smile on her face that has the ability to cheer people up, and one can never find boredom in her sparkling eyes, which are of the same colour as her long locks.

She also has a red tattoo on her upper left arm of the Arabic numerals "0" and "1", signifying her goal of becoming the best of all idols one day.

Personality

Cover shot of Dream Star magazine, February 2009 issue, featuring Rori Midou.

Rori is a cheerful girl of nineteen. She isn't hyperactive nor does she have ADD, but she is always 100% (and 50% more) motivated to do things no matter how small and unimportant the tasks are.

Rori seems more innocent and naive than she really is most of the time, mainly due to the fact that she has a bright personality and doesn't let things get to her easily; even when she's insulted, she would only pout for about two seconds before her overly imaginative brain relates the subject matter to something else.

She thinks that nothing worse can happen to her since she's already seen the worst from both her childhood and her experience in the entertainment world. Rarely does she show her emotional side to people, because she knows that nothing would change and nobody would pity her if she keeps on feeling sorry for herself; in a world like today's, there is no one to depend on but herself, so if she has to live, she might as well have a good time, to live her life to the fullest and to be as optimistic as she can.

In her spare time, Rori likes to karaoke with her friends, watch comedy cartoons on TV (for example Crayon Shin-chan, Atashinchi, Keroro Gunsou, Doraemon, etc.), as well as gaming (she's always seen with her DS Lite when she's free) and skateboarding.

History

Rori came from a very simple and ordinary family of three; grandparents and herself. That's what it seems and what is known to all those who don't know her; if one thinks about it, of course there has to be a reason behind the situation.

Born and raised at the city of Osaka, Rori was the only (and illegitimate) daughter of a pair of young parents - Takumi Midou and Nene Midou, who had Rori when they were around her current age.

After the birth of their daughter, Takumi and Nene decided against going to college and began living together. However, when the birthfather that Takumi admired the most in the world committed suicide in the jail (because his Mother's husband had framed him for something he hadn't done), Takumi lost his mind and went insane. From that day on, he's been doing nothing but going off to wander either before the neighbourhood police station, or to sit in the park till it was time to go back home.

With no other choice left to her, young Nene eventually found a job - it wasn't a good one since it was to work at a construction site, but it was a job nonetheless - and picked up the burden of taking care of her now mentally ill boyfriend and their six-year-old daughter.

However, God seemed to like playing jokes on people. Nene was swindled by a con artist when she tried to do some small money investigations. They lost half of what they owned afterwards, but that still wasn't the worst of it. When an explosion happened at the construction site she worked at, Nene lost both of her arms from the accident and was rushed to the emergency room, which also left her with terminally damaged lungs to go with the physical injury.

A year later, Nene - just like her Father-in-law - committed suicide in the hospital by kicking the oxygen tank over, ripping the oxygen mask away from her in the process. Rori - whom by that time was already a very independent and mature child - was the first to find out when she went to visit her Mother after school (she and her Father had been taken care of by kind neighbours during that time, which was one reason why Rori wasn't - and still isn't - feeling bitter against the rest of the world like some others would if they were in her situation).

Rori as an adult.

Despite having lost her Mother, Rori was unwanted by all her relatives - since they thought that she would most likely become a child with quirky thinking patterns due to the childhood trauma - with the exception of her grandparents who lived in Kurenai Shi. And so, at the age of eight, Rori was sent all the way from Osaka to a city she didn't even know existed before then and began her live with the parents of her late Mother.

Nothing major happened to Rori afterwards, but her education during high school did become somewhat out of hand later on; although she could get along with teachers and her peers very well, she's always been one of those problematic kids simply because she gets distracted easily.

She debuted when she was in her freshmen year in high school (when she was around 15~16 years of age) after winninig a talent contest. However, because she cannot keep up with both her schooling and the contracts she's in on, Rori had to quit school and focus on her job. She has no regrets in that, however, because she believes that people go to school only to learn the things they would need to find careers in the future, so it's alright that she's already stepped into the world beyond educations and the like.

Currently

Right at this moment, Rori is attending Saifu Private Preparatory Academy on a regular basis, even though she isn't there for the entire day everyday. She was assigned as the lead female, Natsuki Imamoto, from the live action drama Live You, Love You, written by Seno Kisaki, but her role switched to Natsuki's older sister, Minase, at the last minute.

Nothing major is going on in Rori's life currently; she is only being the idol that she is like any other day.

Filmography

Miscellany

"As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let us down, probably will. You'll have your heart broken and you'll break others' hearts. You will fight with your best friend or maybe even fall in love with them. And you'll cry because time is flying by:

So take too many pictures. Laugh too much. Forgive freely. And love like you've never been hurt.

Life comes with no guarantees. No time outs. No second chances.

You just have to live life to the fullest. Tell someone what they mean to you and tell someone off. Speak out. Dance in the pouring rain. Hold someone's hand. Comfort a friend. Fall asleep watching the sun come up. Stay up late. Be a flirt. And smile until your face hurts.

Don't be afraid to take chances or fall in love. And most of all, live in the moment, because every second you spend angry or upset is a second of happiness you can never get back."

- Rori "Lollipop" Midou, issue 34 of Good Morning magazine
